Summary
Hooked is a calm, soothing fishing experience focused on depth of mechanics and relaxed play. The core of the game is a layered fishing system: multiple rod types with distinct strengths, a variety of fish species each assigned a rarity tier, and a bait mechanic that increases the chance of catching rarer fish. Rod stats influence catch probabilities for different fish classes, while bait provides situational boosts—together these systems create meaningful choices for players without breaking the tranquil mood. The project was built in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints and emphasizes approachable UX, satisfying feedback, and balanced progression through fishing mechanics rather than fast-paced action.
